Dear Friends of ISTAR:
As the year 2012 draws to a close so do the celebrations that marked ISTAR’s 25th year. It is difficult to believe that ISTAR, now an internationally recognized world leader in stuttering treatment and research, started simply as a shared dream between Dr. Einer Boberg and Deborah Kully. ISTAR is the product of the hard work, dedication and perseverance of too many wonderful people to name in this short message. Our 25th anniversary was the perfect time to reflect on all of the amazing achievements that have come to pass since we started in 1986.
This year was defined by CELEBRATION! The grandest of our festivities recognized ISTAR’s 25th anniversary and honoured Deborah Kully, her career, and her retirement, with a beautiful gala dinner that will always be remembered by those who attended. Two very special lecture series were also held this year: Holly Lomheim organized talks that featured client guest speakers sharing their personal interests and expertise with the ISTAR community and Marilyn Langevin facilitated a number of prominent researchers visiting ISTAR to enlighten us with tales of cutting-edge knowledge discovery in the world of stuttering. We also held our first ever public speaking contest for people who stutter in May.
With many thanks due to you, ISTAR’s clients, volunteers, donors and staff, we enjoyed a marvelous first quarter century! We know the next one will be equally exciting! You are all a part of the ISTAR story, past, present and future, and we highly value our relationship with you. With your continued support we will continue to help countless individuals regain control of their speech because EVERY VOICE MATTERS! In the meantime, please enjoy the memories of this past year documented in the links below.
