We understand the frustration, anxiety and limitations that communication difficulties can cause. This is why our treatment addresses the whole problem - the disorder itself and its impact on how you feel and think, and what you do.
Our programs have been developed over many years of research and experience and therapy is designed to meet individual needs.
In addition to treating stuttering we also offer help for other communication concerns. You can learn more about our Communication Improvement Program by visiting www.speechtherapy.ualberta.ca
We strive to make treatment as accessible as possible, and in some cases, may be able to offer therapy at a distance for those who cannot come to the clinic.
We also offer an anti-bullying program to help children affected by bullying. You can learn more about our Teasing and Bullying program by visiting www.tab.ualberta.ca
Our overarching goal is to help you to become the best communicator you can be - for you to be able to say exactly what you want to say, when and wherever you want to say it.
It is possible to change - to speak with greater ease, to manage speech-related anxiety and to enjoy talking. Changing any behavior is challenging; changing life-long speaking and thinking patterns takes time, commitment and perseverance, especially for older children and adults. But for most, the sense of freedom, ease and confidence gained is well worth the effort.
